Tailgates and Thank-Yous

By Nic

The Jets’ UK scene is powered by two passionate fan groups, each doing an incredible job of bringing us closer to the team and to one another through great events and meet-ups.

The first is Gang Green UK (GGUK). For over ten years now, their mission has been dedicated to growing the legacy of the New York Jets across the UK by creating unforgettable fan experiences, supporting good causes, and fostering an inclusive community where every supporter can share their passion with pride. The other is the UK & Ireland New York Jets Fan Club (UK&I), originally set up as a social media account on Twitter in 2014. It serves to promote the Jets across the British Isles with benefits of a membership. Now with the 2024 International Fan of the Year, Olivia Peebles, at the helm, they hold amazing watch parties around the UK and Ireland, have a range of merchandise, broadcast with a podcast and hold regular competitions for members.

During the Girls Flag Football launch in March, I told Olivia how amazing it would be if both Jets groups teamed up for one huge event — and wouldn’t you know it, that’s exactly what happened! The night before the Broncos game, fans from all corners of Gang Green packed into Belushi’s at London Bridge, thanks to a brilliant collaboration between Badlands and Talking Balls. It was a night of laughter, football chatter, and, well… plenty of pints. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about — this is about the two incredible tailgates that kicked off Sunday, 12th October 2025.

Back in October 2024, the Jets landed in London to face the Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — and UK fans made their mark with great tailgates on this side of the pond. Fast forward to 2025, and those events didn’t just return; they exploded in size and spirit.

UK&I once again filled The Victoria pub, just a short walk from the stadium, and after last year’s success, they added The Two Brewers just three doors down for the inevitable overflow. Hundreds of fans packed both pubs and the street outside, joined by Jets Fan Hall of Fame legend Jetman (Class of 2020)—yes, that Jetman—who led the “J-E-T-S” chants like it was the MetLife itself. As kick-off neared, the crowd marched to the stadium under clouds of green smoke — a London sight no one could miss.

Meanwhile, GGUK once again took over Redemption Brewery with their authentic tailgate — bigger and better than ever. Over 650 fans enjoyed great food from Chicken George’s tour bus, drinks, pizza and a live DJ. Hall of Fame fans Frank West (aka Jet Green Santa – Class of 2017) and Mikey “Hulk Hands” (Class of 2024), along with the Jets’ inaugural International Fan of the Year, Frazer Campbell were there hyping up the crowd, posing for photos, and leading chants like pros. When the time came to head to the game, the streets were once again a sea of green, as chants, laughter, and smoke signalled one thing: the Jets had truly taken London.

When I started Green Smoke, I never imagined scenes like this — two incredible, passionate groups coming together, flares lighting up the London sky, and a sea of fans showing their devotion to a team that, if we’re honest, doesn’t always make it easy to love. But here in The Smoke, it feels right. London has embraced these moments, and in doing so, it’s become something even more special—a place where the Jets spirit truly lives and breathes. Whether your heart leans toward one group or the other doesn’t really matter, because when it comes down to it, we all stand side by side, united by the same colours, the same hope, and the same fight.

We move together under one flag — a flag that stretches across the pond and binds us all as one.

That flag is Gang Green.

And so, to close, I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone at Gang Green UK and the UK & Ireland New York Jets Fan Club. None of this would have been possible without you. Your passion and dedication have made London a brighter, prouder home for Jets fans than ever before.

Keep that green smoke rising high.
